SAFETY EVALUATION OF PROPOSED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

! FOR PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION (TAC N0. 64475) l .

The Plant Systems Branch of D8L has completed its review and evaluation of the proposed Pilgrim Technical Specification changes. The changes were requested under exigent circumstances, in Boston Edison Company letters dated January 19

, and 27, 1987.

The request involves the Pilgrim Technical Specification.Section 4.7.8.2.a.

regarding the Pilgrim' Control Room High Efficiency Air Filter System '

4 (CRHEAF). Specifically, the request proposes (1) to increase the pressure

! drop across the CRHEAF filter unit from 3 to 6 inches of water, and (2) to add ,

j a 10% tolerance to the specified air flow rate through the filter unit.

! We find the ifcensee's request to be acceptable. Our safety evaluation and "
