10 CFR 50.72 IPf1EDIATE NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS By memorandum dated March 24, 1984, you requested clarification of the 10 CFR 50.72 notification requirements that relate to a major loss of off-site response capability. This request was based on the subject memo from Mr. R. Nelson to Mr. I. Jackiw dated January 18, 1984. On March 30, 1984, we forwarded Mr. Nelson's request to the Emergency Preparedness Branch in IE Headquarters provided our position on this i'ssue. A copy of our memo to Headquarters was provided to all RIII Resident Inspectors. In our memo we stated that if our interpretation is inconsistent with final guidance, we would like an early response infonning us of the appropriate final guidance.
The enclosed memo from i E. L. Jordan to Mr. C. J. Paperiello final guidance on the ii.. /pretation of Paragraph 50.72(b)(1)(v)provides , therefore, the the enclosed memo supercedes the guidance specified in the March 30, 1984 memo which was provided to all RIII Resident Inspectors.
