SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING
SUMMARY
- UNIT NO. 2 JUNE 1987 The unit began the period, limited by electrical system stability requirements, operating at eighty eight percent (88%) power, 1000 MWe gross.
The Unit continued to operate at that level until May 12, 1987, when power was further reduced to seventy one percent (71%), for system stability requirements during a thunderstorm.
The Unit was returned to eighty eight percent (88%) power the same day and continued to operate at that level until May 24, 1987, when power was reduced to thirty four percent (34%) due to blown fuses on the 2C 115 volt vital instrument inverter.
The inverter was repaired and power was returned to eighty eight percent (88%) on May 25, 1987.
The Unit operated at that level until May 29, 1987, when a load reduction to i
seventy percent (70%) was performed as a result of a transformer trip out at the New Freedom switching station.
On May 30, 1987, power was further reduced to thirty percent (30%) for installation of a Trip-A-Unit scheme on Unit 2 and re-energizing of the auxiliary power transformer.
On May 31, 1987, upon successful completion of energizing the auxiliary power transformer, a power ascension was commenced for the remainder of the period.
