Questions (1) Page 2-2 What is the " live loading" of valve packing developed by Sec. 2.2.8 AECL for use in CANDU plants? This type of valve packing is not commonly known and should be, therefore, more fully specified.
(2) Page 4-25 Why are the materials for the heater drain piping specified Sec. 4.3 H.5 to be carbon steel upstream of the drain control valve and corrosion / erosion resistant metal downstream from it?
(3) Page 4-25 What provision will be provided for replacement of the spent Sec. 4.3.J.1.b ion exchange resin in the demineralizer/ condensate polisher system without resin regeneration capability?
(4) Page 4-27 Provide the basis for specifying the minimum flow through Sec. 4.3.J.2.b the condensate polisher to be equal to one-third of the total rated condensate flow?
(5)Page5-4 In view of the proposed usage of hydrogen as a corrosion Sec. 5.2.B.4 controlling agent in BWR plants, should the quantities of this gas stored in the plant be larger than a three day supply? Also, guidance should be provided on how this highly combustible gas should be handled and stored at the plant site.
(6)Page5-4 What is the basis for specifying that the required gas Sec. 5.2.B.5 concentrations should be provided by the chemical addition system 90% of plant operating time?
(7)Page6-4 Is the purpose of the condensate makeup purification Sec. 6.3.a system to remove organic comp:unds, such as those which after their decomposition coulo prcciuce sulfides and chlorides, rather than to remote organic carbon as is stated?
