RES REVIEW OF APPENDIX J On June 3, CRGR will review a proposed revision of Appendix J (Primary Reactor Containment Leakage Testing for Water-Cooled Power Reactors) of 10 CFR Part 50.
In keeping with the 1984 and 1985 Program Guidance, RES (DRAO) has developed a program to identify current regulatory requirements which, if deleted or appropriately modified, would improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the NRC's regulatory program without affecting safety.
I understand that Appendix J has been selected as one of two issues under review for 1985 based upon recom-mendations from an NRC program advisory group.
Please advise me of the basis and need for the two separate RES initiatives regarding Appendix J, the means of coordination between the staff efforts, and whether you anticipate additional revision to the requirements as a result of the DRA0 program.
