Your letter of August 22, 1986, transmitted information regarding proposed changes for further upgrade of the physical security system at the RPI Reactor Critical Facility. We have reviewed the information contained in the attach-ments to your letter and; while the proposed changes to the physical security system appear to be consistent with 10 CFR 50.54(p), it is necessary that you formally submit a physical security plan revision for NRC review under the provisions of 10 CRF 50.54(p) within 60 days of implementation of the changes.

This will allow for a comprehensive review of the changes as they affect over-all site security and a comparison with your current NRC-approved Physical Security Plan.

Please note that documentation of detailed information relating to the physical security of your facility is considered to be 10 CFR 2.970(d) information and should be marked and bandled accordingly. Your letter of August 22, 1986, with the attachments, contain information of a type specified in 10 CFR 2.790(d) and therefore, will be withheld form public disclosure and will not be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
