UNIQUE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS MAIN STEAM RELIEF VALVE OPERATIONS Relief valve operations during the reporting period May, 1987 are summarized in the following table. The table includes information as to which relief valve was actuated, how it was actuated, and the circum-stances resulting in its actuation.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE UNIT TWO MAY, 1987 05/01/87 to 05/07/87 Unit 2 entered the month off-line in the end of its 10 refueling outage with the reactor critical. On May let at 2150 hours0.0249 days
0.597 hours
0.00355 weeks
8.18075e-4 months
the generator was synchronized to the grid, ending the refueling outage. An automa-tic reactor scram occurred on May 3rd at 0912 hours0.0106 days
0.253 hours
0.00151 weeks
3.47016e-4 months
during testing of the feedwater level control system.

A feedwater regulating valve fully opened, resulting in a reactor water level increase to the automatic turbine and reactor feedpump trip setpoint. The reactor water level subsequently decreased to the auto-matic low level scram setpoint. The reactor was made critical on May 4th at 0913 hours0.0106 days
0.254 hours
0.00151 weeks
3.473965e-4 months
an6 the generator was synchronized to the grid at 0508 hours0.00588 days
0.141 hours
8.399471e-4 weeks
1.93294e-4 months
on May 7th.

05/08/87 to 05/16/87 The unit operated steadily increasing load until the turbine was manually taken off-line on May 15th at 2234 hours0.0259 days
0.621 hours
0.00369 weeks
8.50037e-4 months
for the planned turbine overspeed test. The unit was brought on-line at 1613 hours0.0187 days
0.448 hours
0.00267 weeks
6.137465e-4 months
of May 16th.

05/17/87 to 05/31/87 Unit load was increased after completion of an on-Site Review of the startup activities and repairs to the 2B !

condensate booster pump. Unir load was limited for the remainder of the month by main condenser vacuum result-ing from high circulating water inlet temperatures, reaching a power level of 762 MWe with a capacity factor of 56.89% and an availability of 82.33%.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE )

UNIT THREE MAY, 1987 05/01/87 to 05/14/87 Unit 3 entered the month on-line and operating at 686 MWe. Load was limited to this level because the

 1. 3 low pressure heater string was isolated due to a problem with the 3C2 low pressure heater. On May 12th at 0209 hours0.00242 days
0.0581 hours
3.455688e-4 weeks
7.95245e-5 months
an automatic reactor scram occurred on a {

l low reactor water level signal resulting from an auto-matic trip of the reactor feedpumps on low suction j pressure. The low reactor feedpump suction pressure l was caused by an automatic trip of the 30 condensate booster overcurrent as a result of an internal short ]

)

in its motor. A'ter investigation of the problem was completed, the reactor was made critical May 14th at 1 0644 hours0.00745 days
0.179 hours
0.00106 weeks
2.45042e-4 months
and the generator was synchronized to the grid at 2138 hours0.0247 days
0.594 hours
0.00354 weeks
8.13509e-4 months
of the same day.

05/15/87 to 05/31/87 The unit steadily increased load to maximum core flow and operated through the remainder of the month at maximum core flow reaching a power level of 786 MWe with a capacity factor of 78.20% and an availability of 91.38%.
