Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. I Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 10 CFR 50.62, ATWS Rule Schedule Gentlemen:

On June 26, 1984, the final rule on reduction of risk from Anticipated Transients Without Scram (ATWS) was published in the Federal Register (49FR26036) as 10 CFR 50.62.

By letter dated June 26, 1985, Duquesne Light Company provided a proposed schedule for implementation per Section 50.62(d).

Our plans are to implement one of the Westinghouse Owner's Group generic designs described in WCAP-10858.

However, since the safety evaluation allowing reference to the report was not issued until July 7, 1986, we are providing a revision to tha schedule as follows:

The design information required by 50.62(c)(6) will be submitted in February 1987 instead of November 1986.

Final implentation is still scheduled for our sixth refueling outage which is tentatively planned for November 1987. This schedule change was discussed with our NRC Project Manager on September 10, 1986, who l

indicated that the proposed change appeared acceptable.

If you have any questions, please contact my office.

Ver.y truly yours,
