SUBJECT:
' REVIEW 0F DRAFT COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF DISPOSAL SITE ALTERNATIVES REPORT (CADSAR) FOR THE UMTRA PROJECT LOWMAN SITE, BOISE COUNTY,-IDAHO I have completed my review of the subject Draft CADSAR for the Lowman VMTRAP Site and the associated site characterization statements of work. These reviews were discussed-in a meeting held on Monday, June 1, 1987.
--As discussed in the' meeting, I have no substantive comments on the Lowman Draft CADSAR. The document correctly ~ points out that foundation stability .is
-the major geotechnical consideration at the site, and that steep slopes at the site will play.an-important role in the design of the stabilized pile. The characterization described in the geotechnical engineering sampling statement ,
of work appears adequate for this early stage of development.
Other reviewers of the Draft CADSAR, however, identified major issues which will need resolution for the Final CADSAR. The resolution of any one'of these issues may affect the geotechnical engineering considerations in the Final CADSAR. Please keep me informed of discussions leading to the resolution of these issues to ensure that the geotechnical aspects of the resolution are examined.
