DOCKET NO.'70-824 During 1986, NRC's contractor,. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (0RAU),

conducted 'a confirmatory survey to verify. that;the condition of Building A under License No. SNM-778, B&W Lynchburg Research Center. (LRC), met' the release

~

criteria specified in-Annex C to License'No. SNM-778 and the dose rate limit of 5 microroentgen-per hour; at one meter.

Region II has.Lreviewed a. draft report f

of the survey and has concluded that,the survey confirmed the results' contained-in the licensee's Termination. Survey. Report dated June 1986,- that'there was' no residual contamination in the facili_ty in excess of the limits _ described'above.

In that' applicable release criteria 'have 'been1 met, we ' recommend the unconditional release of Building A under License No. SNM-778. ORAU'will issue a final _ report on the confirmatory survey in the 'near future.'
