Updated Schedule for Completion of IE Bulletin 85-03

Dear Mr. Martin:

The purpose of this letter is to update-the original schedule for completing actions specified in IE Bulletin 85-03, " Motor-Operated valve Common Mode Failures During Plant Transients Due To Improper Switch Settings" at Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS).

Reference 1 transmitted the original schedule to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Reference 2 transmitted additional information concerning the WCGS program for completing IE Bulletin 85-03.

To date, item a and item e have been completed. The remaining work is being performed and is scheduled to be completed by November 15, 1987. The final report required by item f will be submitted to the NRC within 60 days of work completion.

This change in schedule is necessitated by the fact that not all of the valves covered by Bulletin 85-03 were tested during the first refueling outage because of time constraints. The remaining valves, some of which require a plant outage, will be tested prior to or during the second refueling outage which is scheduled to begin on September 17, 1987.

This change in schedule remains consistent with the requirements of Bulletin 85-03.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact me or Mr. O. L. Maynard of my staff.

8706160314 870605 Very truly yours, ADOCK050g4g PDR G
