SUBJECT:
EMERGENCY PUBLICATION OF GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS Enclosed are two Environmental Assessments relatino to amendment of the operating license for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) Unit 1, amendment of the construction permit for GGNS Unit 2 and transfer of control of licensed activities from MP&L to SERI.
The licensee has an urgent need for the prompt issuance of the amendments so that it may complete matters related to the transfer of control and put into place the management organization planned for the operation and construction of the GGNS. These environmental assessments must be published prior to issuance of the amendments which the staff is strivino to issue the week of

December 8, 1986. Therefore, we request the earliest possible publication of these documents in the Federal Register.
