Enclosed is an application for an export license received recently by the NRC for the return of depleted uranium to NUKEM in West Germany in the form of
" dummy" fuel elements (graphite spheres containing depleted granium).
The sphere _s were provided to GA Technologies for reprocessing s'thdies; however, r
~~the contract between the Department of Energy and NUKEM covering these studies was cancelled. A letter of assurance is required that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of an agreement for coooeration.
Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurance letter will be appreciated.
