20555 PLANT V0GTLE - UNIT 1 NRC DOCKET 50-424 OPERATING LICENSE NPF-68 SUPPLEMENT TO RESPONSE TO NRC INSPECTION REPORT Gentlemen:
The following information is submitted by Georgia Power Company as a supplement to our letter SL-2450 dated May 1, 1987 to the NRC.
The subject letter provided a
response to NRC Inspection Report 1
50-424/87-12.
The information provided herein pertains to Violation 50-424/87-12-01 relative to the turbine driven auxiliary feedwater l
(TDAFH) pump steam supply valve.
Our May 1, 1987 response to the subject violation listed the reason for the violation relative to that equipment as:
"The violation occurred as a result of failing to adequately implement the
" Locked Valve Manipulation Log" as required by Procedure 10019-C and failure to adequately verify the proper equipment configurations following maintenance activities."
Upon further investigation, it was found that Procedure 13601-1, " Steam Generator and Main Steam System Operation", requires the TDAFH pump steam supply valve to be closed with no restoration steps.
Please be advised that in addition to the " corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved" as discussed in our May 1,1987 response, the following corrective actions were taken:
1.
The valve was promptly repositioned.
2.
The operators involved were counselled on the need for attention to detail.
3.
A night order was issued to all shifts on March 2,1987.
In addition to the " corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations" as discussed in our response, Procedure 13601-1 has been revised to include reopening the TDAFH pump steam supply valve.
