DOCKETS 50-266 AND 50-301 RECEIVING INSPECTION PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 During a routine safety inspection conducted by R. D. Sutphin of your staff on June 16-19 and 23-27, 1986, the status of Unresolved Item 266/83021-27, 301/83020-27 pertaining to receiving inspection program implementation at Point Beach Nuclear Plant was reviewed.
This subject is covered by Inspection Reports 50-266/86011 (DRS) and 50-302/86010 (DRS), which were transmitted with your letter to me dated July 16, 1986.
The purpose of this letter is to advise you of actions taken in this regarding since the inspection by Mr. Sutphin.
We have upgraded the receiving inspection program at Point Beach Nuclear Plant since the NRC QA inspection which was conducted in 1983.
Receiving inspections are now performed by qualified Material Inspectors at Point Beach Nuclear Plant in accordance with documented inspection criteria.
At the time of Mr. Sutphin's inspection, incoming mechanical and electrical QA-scope items were being inspected under the new program, and efforts were under way to include Instrument and Control (I&C) QA-scope items. Effective August 1, 1986, all incoming QA-scope items are included in the program.
