  • ATTN: Mr. Paul S. Novosel President Post Office Box 30287 Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44130

Dear Mr. Novosel:

This is in reference to your letter of September 25, 1986 in which you peti-tiened the NRC not to disclose the names of NOVA Machine Products Corporation (NOVA) customers, vendors and subcontractors, and purchase order numbers f, referenced in NRC Inspection Report 99901052/86-01, dated August 27, 1984.

As a result of your request, we have reviewed the report and considered your request.

With regard to your request that sales order package numbers be deleted from the text of the report, we do not intend to withhold that information. We can foresee no instance where an order number by itself would provide your compe-titors with any advantage and the information may be of benefit to the customer in evaluating your performance.

With regard to your request that customer names be deleted from the text of the report, we do not intend to withhold that information. The customer names listed on page one of the inspection report are licensees.and it is our position that affected licensees should be readily'able to determine which vendor inspections pertain to them.-

With regard to your request to withhold the names of your vendors and subcon-tractors contained in the text of the report and additional information contained in the Inspection Data-Sheets, it does not appear at this time that releasing -

this information is necessary to protect public health and safety since no -

material deficiencies were identified involving these companies. There fore, this information will be withheld pending further evaluation of the effect this has on the ability of licensees to .take appropriate corrective action.

A copy of inspection report 99901052/86-01 and the cover letter with all enclosures, except the Inspection Data Sheets, will be placed in the public document room 14 days from the date of this letter. The names and locations of NOVA's vendors and subcontractors will .be masked on all copies released to the public. Should our position change concerning the identity of your vendors 8612050089 e61128 PDR 99901052 GA999 EMVNOVA PDR
