Dear Mr. Thorne:
Attached is a letter from Transnuclear, Inc. requesting an amendment to export license XUO8627 to increase the quantity of natural uranium authorized for export by an additional 167,023 kilograms. ~ The material will be enriched at Eurodif and returned to the U.S. for use as fuel in light-water power reactors.
Before taking action on this amendment request, we would appreciate your views in accordance with established procedures as to whether the proposed export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act as amended by the Nuclear Non-Proliferaion Act of 1978 (NNPA). As this proposed export involves the 4
enrichment of U.S.-supplied material, we note that it will be subject to the procedures required by Section 402(a) of the NNPA.
