liRC THI-2 CLENIUP PROJECT DIRECTORATE WEEKLY STATUS REPORT FOR fiOVEliBER 17 - 23, 1986 1.
DEFUELIflG Topographic mapping and video exanination of the reactor core debris bed were done t!ovenber 22, 1986. These are the first exaninations after the bulk core drilling.
Sanples of the drilled debric bed were placed in canisters for early shipnent to the Idaho flational Engineering Labcratory. Sone chunks of r.utorial have weighed 200 - 300 pounds.
The first atteopt at renoving broken drill bits and drill string were unsuccessful. These pieces will be handled as they are enccuntered.
Fuel debris loading will begin this week.

EliVIRONf! ENTAL t'04ITORIriG US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sanple analysis results show that Ti!I site liquid effluents are in accordance with regulatory limits, tiRC requirements, and the City of Lancastcr Agreenent.
Tit! water cffluents are sanpled frca the statica (Units 1 and 2) discharge and analy:cd by EPA. Czuna spectrun analyses of the seven daily cenposited sanples (fluyenbar 1 - G,19C6) indicated no T'll-2 related radioactivity.
EPA's geria spectrun analysis of the fiRC's TiI outdoor air sauple for liovenber 13 - 20, 1906 showed no reactor related radioactivity.
The Loncaster water works intake conposited seven daily sacples (Noveober 2 - 8, 1986) ijema spectrun analy:cd by EPA shcued no f~y/(' f reactnr related radicactivity.
