Payment of Civil Penalty for Enforcement Action 84-87
Dear Mr. Taylor:
Reference 2 provided Kansas Gas and Electric Company's (KG&E) response to the " Notice of Violption and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty" relative to Enforcement Action 84-87.
We are enclosing a check (No.
006715) in the amount of $64,000 made payable to the Treasurer of the United States, notwithstanding KG&E's right to request mitigation of the Civil Penalty.
We believe that further debate over the issues which gave rise to the Civil Penalty is not likely to be productive.
In this case, our resources will be better spent in working cooperatively with the NRC to continue the quality operation of Volf Creek Generating Station.
