Dear Dr. Corridini:
We have been informed by Senator Prommire's office of the offer of,a group from the University of Wisconsir Nuclear Safety Research Center to provide expert advice to the U.S. Government (USNRC) in aiding the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant disaster. As you may know, the Russian Government has refused an offer of assistance from the United States. However, the Environmental Protectinn Agency, which is the lead Federal agency on this matter, is keeping track of offers such as yours in the event there is a change in position or other countries request assistance. Therefore, we have fnrwarded your recuest to EPA. Your offer is appreciated.
Sincerely, l k Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation cc: Senator William Proxmtre Harry Calley, EPA 0705290268 870526 1 l'DH FOIA TAYLOR 86-355 PDR l l
