This forwards our report of a special inspection related to the conversion of

the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Critical Facility to low enriched uranium

I (LEU) fuel and our need to ensure that operator licenses issued to persons at

your facility can be reactivated for use on the new LEU core under the current -

,

provisions of 10 CFR 55.31(e).

As detailed in the attached report, the licenses of two of your three currently

licensed operators will be reactivated upon proper application and subsequently-

renewed for use with the new core configuration. ,
