..e JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 NARRATIVE SIMfARY OF OPERATIONS July, 1986

,.During.the month of July, there was one unit shutdown which occurred on July 2,.1986.

A reactor. trip' occurred.as a result of a dropped control rod. A short occurred.in an electrical-penetration module between the two-conductors' supplying power to the stationary gripper coil.

The following major-safety-related maintenance was' performed in the month of July:

1.

Miscellaneous corrective and preventive maintenance was performed on diesel generators.

2.

Rerouted rod control electrical cables due to a short which occurred in a. containment electrical penetration on 7-2-86.

Also, electrical cables were rerouted to two other control rods when low resistance was found between the conductors.

3.

Performed yearly scheduled maintenance on the IB diesel generator.'

4.

The lA charging pump was taken out of service (elective) to replace the rotating assembly.

5.

Corrective maintenance was performed on the motor driven fire pump.

t JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT ADDENDUM CONCERNING REVISION 2 TO THE OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUAL'-

Revision 2 to the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual' (ODCM) was approved by the PORC on July 11, 1986.'

It was determined by the PORC

. that these changes will not reduce the accuracy or reliability of dose calculations or setpoint determinations.

The ODCM was revised because Revision 1 of the ODCM did not clarify

. which of the radiological environmental _ monitoring stations. at Farley

' Nuclear Plant are required by Technic.al Specifications.

This revision distinguishes between those stations and the ones that are provided as additional precautions. ' Revision 2 also designated alternate forage locations to be used when the primary locations are not available. -The remainder of the changes were made to improve readability and to correct-typographical errors.

The ODCM applies to both Unit 1 and Unit 2 at Farley Nuclear-Plant.
