Dear Dr. Murley:
In accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 70.32(e), fomarded as enclosure (1) is a change to the UNC Naval Products Physical Protection Plan.
The changes to the Plan were a result of the relocation of the trash compactor operation from an SNM production area to an area free of SNM production operations. This relocation was due to concerns by NRC Division of Safeguards personnel as expressed in a letter to G. O. Amy of UNC-NP from R. F.
Burnett of the NRC, dated August 28, 1984. The changes are considered an improvement in our overall Safeguards and Security program.
The physical and operational changes noted, are due to the relocation of the trash compactor from its previous location to a newly constructed waste treatment area. The personnel title changes from "Decon personnel" to " Plant Service; per-sonnel", are due to a change in responsibility for trash compaction from production decon personnel to a newly formed Plant Services Waste Treatment Group independent of Produc-tion Management.
Enclosure (2) is a synopsis of the changes / revisions. To facilitate review and, as an aid to the reviewer (s), ver-tical lines have been added in the margins of affected pages to more quickly identify those portions changed / revised.
Enclosure (3) is a new Plan page which should be inserted inside the front cover.
It will serve to maintain a record of Plan changes by each individual Plan copy holder.
