The review of the Report WPPSS-74-2-R3 entitled " Protection Against Pipe Breaks outside the Coutainmant" has been reviewed by the Auxiliary and Power Conversion Systems Branch in the areas that it has primary responsibility. The review was based on the " General Information Required for Consideration of the Effects of a Piping System Break Outside Containment" as taodified by the errata sheet j
sent under AEC cover letter to the applicant dated January 12, 1974.
1 The comitnents of the applicant regarding the design of high enerty pipirit systeem and associated components and structures are in accordance with the guidance set forth in the above rentioned high enery,y line break criteria. Based on the above criteria, we conclude that the aprilcant can develop an acceptable design so that the postulated pipe breaks outside of contairment will not prevent the safe shutdom of the reactor f acility.
