WPPSS has submitted its design criteria for inactive pumps and valves in response to the AEC staff's requirements in the SER and Supplement No. I to the SLE.
In the SER for Hanford-2, under section 4.3 Design, the staff stated:

" The applicant has not adequately defined the stress and pressure limits appropriate for emergency and faulted condition categories for inactive pumps and valves within the reactor coolant pressure boundary.
Therefore, the applicant will be required to meet the stress and pressure limits specified in paragraphs NB-3655 and NB;3656 of Section III, ASME Boiler and Presearc Vessel Code (1971) or its equivalent."

2.3 Desimu Criteria For Inactive Pumos and Valves In section 4.3 of the Safety Evaluation we noted that the applicant has not adequately defined the design criteria (stress and pressure limits) for inactive pumps and valves within the reactor coolant pressure boundary and therefore we defined the criteria that the applicant will be required to meet. We will review the applicant design criteria when finalized to assure that they meet our requirements.
