~~ fparv to the Appeal Bo TWO DAY NRC STAFF'S MOTION EXTENSION OF TIME WITHIN WHICH TO FILE ITS BRIEF The NRC Staff requests a two day extension of time, until Novem-ber 26, 1986, to file its brief in response to Georgians Against Nuclear Energy's (GANE's) " Appeal Brief and Proposed Findings Concern-ing Licensing Board Decisions."

The Staff's response is due to be filed on November 24, 1906.

The Staff's brief was in the final stages of preparation on the morning of November 21, 1986, when the Staff's word processing unit failed.

This failure caused all material which was being worked on in the system to be destroyed.

The entire draft version of the Staff's brief (about 50 pages) must now be completely retyped.

The Staff originally thought that the werd processing unit could be repaired within a few hours and naterial in the system was not destroyed.

However, it now has become apparent that the unit will be out of service throughout November 21, 1986 and that all material being worked on in the system was destroyed.

The Staff has communicated this request for an extension of time to the Applicants and they have no objection to this request.

?

Counsel was unsuccessful in his attempt to contact a representative of GANE.

However, Staff Counsel believes that under the circumstances GANE will not be prejudiced by the requested two day extension of time within which to file the Staff's brief.
