This note sunsaariser the review and evaluation of a rtress analysis included in a report by WPPSS which describes an Engineering Evaluation and Repair Progran implemented to correct lamellar tearing experiended in vessel plate during field welding of two circumferential support structures.
I.ased on the Il.ited information shown in the report the methods used for the stress analysis appt.2r reasonable and within the realm of present engineering practica. It should, however, be clear that the analysis pertains to the stresses in welds and the containment shell due to operating leeds, which are shown to be within Code limits. The analysia does not addrans the causes of the &&%ilar tearing, which are apparently due to residual, alignment and shriukage stressen.
