Minor Requested Completion Date: 8/18/72 Applicants response data nacessary for completion of next action planned on project: 9/8/72 Description of Response: Safety Evaluation Review Status: Complete The information submitted by the applicant, including A=and= ant 8, has been reviewed and evaluated by the Mechanical Engineering Branch, Directorate of Licensing, and transmitted in our letter dated August 14, 1972. Our letter noted ten items that required documentation prior to final publication of AEC safety evaluation. Amendment 9 to the PSAR provided this documentation. All items mentioned in our August 14 letter were satisfactorily answered except the following two items:
1.
The applicant has not stated that a static factor of 1.5 vill be used if a static analysis is used in lieu of a dynamic systems analysis to design category I equipment. The applicant should be required to use a static factor of 1.5.
2.
The applicant has not adequately defined the stress and pressure limits appropriate for emergency and faulted condition categories for pug s and valves within tbs reactor coolant pressure boundary.
The applicant she-Ad be required to meet stress and pressure limits specified in Tr.ragraphs NB-3655 and NB-3456 of Sectima III, ASME Boiler and Pressure Yessel Code (1971) or its equivalent.
