Braidwood, Il vFT DCCr:
Dear Fr. Dewald,
As of our $12.00 raise to all Level II inspecotts with $.50 increments for each additional certifications, the overall moral and pride in our work and ccmpany has decayed to zero. Less than a week af ter we were premised that all Level II inspectors would start at $12.00 per hour, the company began to hire inspectors at $lh.00 and
$16.00 per hour.
Copies of letters written to prospective employees were found in the Zerox machine and when we confronted management we were told it was none of our business.
Since this time approximately 30 inspectors have lef t the job.
Scme for a lesser salary because of managements attitude tcwards the employees. I strongly emphasize that management has been confrented by the employees on several occasions about their lack of concern for their employees. We have constantly been under pres-sure to train new people in several different areas to justify their big starting salaries. Again, we were told it was none of our busin.ess and if we didn't do as we were told, we would be subject to disciplinary action.
For at least the last six months, we have been subject to endless harassment and intimidation by Comstock's management to justify the incompetence and disregard for all company inspectors.
e On ene occasion, I was given a Q. A. Audit and was told that I had to cceplete a total review of all my calibration records by a certain date, no matter how I did it or I would be subject to disciplinary action.
I confronted P. Bob Seltman who is Comstoex's Q. A. Ingineer and told him that a proper review of these records could not be ac,ccmplished within that short period of time. Again, I was harassed and intimidated *into being done with my review on the given date no matter how I did it.
I never did nor will I ever falsify documentation for anycne or for any I hold my professional attitude and ability above anyone on any manage-reason.
ment level.
I have been harassed and intimidated as to the quantity of my work and of ry willingness to do anything management required, never the quality of my work.
Due to Comstock negligence, several inspectors certificatien due dates were over-locked and allowed to lapse,'therefore making them not certified in many areas.
The ottitude and moral of our ce=pany as a team further decayed to a dangerous level.
My Lead Inspector, Larry Phillips, left Aug. Oth on funeral leave. At that time, being the only person certified in calibration and receiving, I was confrented by Pr. R.M. Sakalac and told that I would ccmplete and do the work in both areas no matter how I did it.
I was told that he would have people do my leg work and make out checklist and that I was to sign the paper work.
I feel that this was a violation of NRC regulations.
I refuse to falsify documentation.
After this incident I was ence again harassed, intimidated, and threatened disciplinary action. On several occasions I asked for help, but was told "Either do it our way or suffer the conse-quences." I feel that this is a total insult to my moral attitude and professional On Monday, Aug 13th, I was approached again by Mr. Sakalac and told that if career.
I didn't cc=plete my calibration assignments, complete my recieving assignments, train Bob Wicks and Tem Dunbar in calibrations and train Terry Gorman and Eerschel Stout in recieving, "I would never ever be put in Cc= stock's C.E. A. Training Pro-gram". Pr. Sakalac then told me that "Sometimes your have to play a little chess in the business to keep your job".
My reply was that I didn't realize that black-m il and chess were the same thing.
Throughout the week I suffered total harassment, intimidatien, threats, and the thought of blackmail.
I still nanaged to maintain the highest level of crofessionalism doing both jobs to the best of my ability.

.4 on F iday, Aug 17th, I was preparing Thursday' status when W. Puckett approached me in' conversation and at that mcment R.M. Sakalac ran from the other end of the room yelling that I had better things to do then talk to a fellow inspector.
I was told-
)
I would be written up for my bad attitude.
I was told there would be a meeting at 9:00 A.M. with management to read my charges.
I was put on hold five times through-out the day until L:L5 P.M. when I was finally read my charges.
At that time I was told it did not matter how I did my job or how good of a job I was doing. I was told that if Comstock management did not like you, you were gene!
I was also told that if I ever wanted to make a living for my family again, I had better bow-down to their way of doing things.
Earlier in the day I had confronted Mr. Larry Seese as to the problem with Mi. Sakalac and ask that he speak with at least six witnesses about the incident above. When I asked him about the conversation he had with the witness-es, I was told it didn't matter what they said.
I was again theatened to either act like a puppet for the compay or that I would never work again.
Since my hire of Aug. 1, 1982, I have performed all my duties in a professional man-ner to the best et my ability. Pcy records will prove that I am a very conscientious persen, that I have established an excellent working relationship with Ccmenvealth Edisen, Pittsburg Test. Labs and Union Local 176 - Electrical Craf tsmen.
In all of my two years with Cemstock Conpany, I have worked accessive overtime in the attempt to secure the stability and competency of L.K. Comstock.
I was informed by Larry Seese that my certification in the field of calibration was always to be considered a part-time job. Yet I have workee more overtime than anyone else in the office.
I feel that formal charges should be brought against all people involved with the incidents listed above. Please notify me of pending action.
Sincerely, i
John'2. Seeders Y
