The QC Weld Inspector will verify all the aforementioned prior to welding.
The welder will deposit his root layer.

This may be done with one or more passes. On the root layer the welder is only permitted to grind his stops and starts. However, if the root layer is to be deposited in more than one pass, the welder will be permitted to do light grinding at the toe of the weld prior to depositing additional passes.

me QC Weld Inspector will visually inspect the root layer of the weld.

The welder will complete his test coupon by welding out to completion. The QC Weld Inspector's responsibilities between the root inspection will be to re-check your paperwork for completness, fill out additional Filler Metal Withdrawal Records if required and monitor the in-process welding. The QC Weld Inspector shall assures A.
The test coupon remains tack welded to the test fixture in the fixed position.

The QC Weld Inspector will examine the completed weld. While it is still tack welded to the test fixture, he will assure that:

he test is in the as-welded condition.

That the cover layer was deposited using stringer beads.

That no area of the weld is below the surface of the plate. Standard undercut requirements and visual criteria shall apply.
D.
That the weld reinforcement height does no,t exceed 1/8" max.
21.
If any rework is to be performed, it will be done at this time.
22.
The welder will remove the coupon from the test fixture and scribe it as per LKC Procedure 4.7.1.
23.
The welder will cut the coupons by prescribed means. There will be two (2) test specimens recoved from each coupon. The welder shall remove the section of backing bar, grind the reinforcement flush with the specimen and transfer the identification markings from the coupon to the test specimens.
24.
CECO shall be called to inform them that you have test specimens ready for a bend test. A representative from CECO shall be present,to witness the bend test.
25.
The bend test will be performed by the craft welder in the Getschow Weld Test Facility.
