Dear Mr.- Suzuki:
In response to your letter to Malcolm Knapp, received on April 23, 1987, regarding the modification of the-lid mortar filling provision of the Steel Fiber Polymer Impregnated Concrete (SFPIC) Topical Report, the request has been reviewed'and determined to be acceptable. As indicated in the request the substitution of side wall drainage holes in the steel drum for the-lid mortar filling procedure will reduce' personnel exposure while continuing to prevent liquid accumulation on top of the SFPIC lid.
Section 3.11.2 of the NRC Staff _ Evaluation Report for Docket No. WM-81 of Jun'e' 1986, will be modified to reflect the change'. Also the State authorities will
- be notified of our review and acceptance of the modification and requested to revise their Certificates.of. Compliance, if necessary.
