Summary of Meeting May 7, 1985 Braidwood Station i
i The purpose of this meeting was to review specific Braidwood Construction Analysis Program (BCAP)These observations wer, observations on cable installation.
e nine specific cables whose training radius violates the minimum bend radius criteria established by The Okonite Company.
The objective is to gather j
information to determine whether these observations are design significant.
i The following is a summary of.the information gathered:
+
)
y Cable ICC063 - (12/c $14 AWG, 600V cable) The installation is such that three of the individual conductors (O.D. of.204")
~
are terminated such that the minimum training radius is violated.
Two of the conductors have a bend radius of 3/16" and j'
one conductor makes a 90* bend at the termination lug.
Only j
the conductor with the 90' bend has wrinkles'in the jacket.
i rCable 1CS086 - (7-1/c #14 AWG, 600V cable) The conductors
}-
(O.D. =.204") are terminated in a limit switch.
Within the limit switch, two conductors are looped such that their i-minimum training radius is violated.
The two conductors have j
a radius of approximately 1/8 inch.
The outer jacket is j
wrinkled on the inside of each loop.
(7/c #14 AWG, 600V) The individual conductors
< Cable 1CS109 -
are terminated such that two conductors violate the training radius.
One conductor has a bend radius of 1/4" while the j
other has a radius of 5/16".
There is no wrinkling of the outer jacketing.
Cable 1CV077 (3/c 010 AWG, 600V cable) This cable exits a 1
conduit to a cable tray.
The minimum training radius is violated at this point.
The jacket has no wrinkles or kinks because of the bend.
There is a slight dent in the jacket (less than 50%
l of the jacket thickness) because of the cable. resting on the bushing at the end of conduit.

-s Page 2 of 2 (3/c 96 AWG, 600V cable) The cable (O.D. =.95")
i Cable 1DG069 l
has a bend radius of 1.75 inches, which violates the minimum training radius of 2.9 inches.
The cable has no wrinkles or l
j kinks in the jacket.
j j
Cable 1RH006 (2/c #14 AWG, 600V cable) This installation is r
j similar to that of cable 1CV077.
i Cable 1SX437 (6-1/c #14 AWG, 600V cable) The conductors
,- (O.D. =.204") are terminated such that three conductors i
are looped back on themselves such that the minimum training l
radius is violated.
The conductors each have a bend radius of approximately 1/8 inch.
The conductors are not kinked but i
do have wrinkles in the outer jackets.
Cable VD082 (3/c 010 AWG, 600V cable) This installation is similar to cables ICV 077 and 1RH006, except there is more i
pressure on this cable than the other two causing the dont in i
j the jacket to be deeper.
4 l
' r Cable IVP002 (3/c 500 MCM, 600V cable) The individual conductors l
of this cable (O.D. = 1.07 inch) are terminated such that they l-have a training radius of 2.5".
There are no wrinkles in the outer jacketing of the conductors.
The Okonite Company will review these observations to determine l
whether these violations of training radius will prevent the equipment from performing their intended function.
