12/05/83 Discussion with R. Wicks 12/3/83 Date:
g.
The following took place approximately 7:45 to 8:22 A.M. on December 3, 1983:
A discussion with Mr. R. Wicks on the morning in question started with informing him of trying to get some of the past velder inspections Tor welds performed on greater than 3/4" thickness. At which time he got very excited as there were welders in the Tab. Shop to do Welding Procedure Tests. He indicated the 500 preheat of the material being welded which had set at room temperature all night. Also, he talked about transferring heat numbers to the steel being used. It was then explained to him (R. Wicks) that the steel was bought by CECO in lots without heat numbers and that the type of steel would be determined on

Monday, December 5, 1983. This still did not 'seem to satisfy him.. He then stormed out down to the Tab. Shop to do the Tests. He was asked to sit down and talk over what seemed to be bothering his first. He i
returned from the Tab. Shop later (to my office) and then requested to be laid off so he could draw compensation. He was told this could not be done. He then was asked what his problem was, and his reply was, "Nothing and that he didn't have to tell anyone".
He then indicated he was not returning to work and went back to the l-Tab. Shop." At approximately 11:30 A.M. he informed R. Saklak, the supervisor of inspectors, that he was sick and finished and was going j
home. At this point, I do not know if the asn has quit or what. He was not terminated.
The above converestions were witnessed by L. Seese, Asst. QC Manager.

At 10:30 A.M. I talked with D. Brown, L. Tapella and T. Rolan regarding R. Wicks and conversation of 12/03/83. Due to his statement to M. Klachko and L. Seese, "He would go to the NRC", it was suggested that when Mr.
)
Wicks returns to work on 12/05/83, that a meeting be held with Mr. Wicks j
and above mentioned people to find out what his problems or concerns are, because he refused to discuss his problems with I. DeWald and L. Seese prior to leaving at 11:30, December 3,1983.
