Reference:
50-424/86-59, 50-425/86-26 Attention: Mr. Roger D. Walker The Georgia Power Company wishes to submit the following supplemental information concerning the deviations identified in your inspection
- j' report 50-424/86-59 and 50-425/86-26.
In our correspondence GN-1087 dated September 25, 1986, Georgia Power ' Company committed to provide e
the USNRC with the results of Project Licensing's review of two FSAR j
Change Notices.
l j
Relative to the explosion-proof battery room vacuum exhaust fan i
motors (Deviation 50-424/86-59-02, 50-425/86-26-02), Project Licensing has evaluated the FSAR Change Notice and has reviewed Bechtel engineering's position and justification.
The change notice will be incorporated into an FSAR amendment in accordance with project procedures and submitted to the USNRC for approval.
The FSAR amendment will delete the commitment to provide explosion-proof motors for the battery room vacuum exhaust fans.
l-Relative to the electrically interlocked and alarmed control room
(
doors (Deviation 50-424/86-59-03, 50-425/86-26-03), Project Licensing has evaluated the FSAR Change Notice and Bechtel engineering's position on this issue.
In addition, this issue has been discussed with the USNRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, which has verbally agreed that the as-built ccndition of the control room doors is adequate.
Therefore, the FSAR Change Notice will be incorporated in an amendment to the FSAR and submitted to the USNRC for approval. The FSAR amendment will delete the commitment to provide electrical interlocking and alarm features for the control room doors.
In our earlier response, Georgia Power Company indicated that a review of selected portions of the FSAR had been initiated by Bechtel engineering to ensure consistency between the implemented design and that described in the FSAR.
This review is approximately one-third complete and, to date, has not identified any discrepancies of safety P
t0 3EOt
p-Page Two significance.
The review will continue on an on-going basis until completed.
If any items of safety significance are identified, they will be reported to the appropriate USNRC organization in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
This response contains no proprietary information and may be placed in the USNRC Document Room.
