SPDS SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT REVIEWS FOR WNP-2 AND RANCHO SECO
Reference:
Memorandum from V. Moore to Brent Clayton dated August 11, 1983 The referenced memorandum initiates a request for systems' manpower in PSRB to provide review and conclusions of SPDS analyses for two plants, WNP-2 and Rancho Seco.
It is our understanding that all existing reactors will require this review in the near future.
Although our systems' manpower is severely constrained in PSRB, and we are unable to justify impacting ongoing activity to respond to your defined due dates, we will perform the following work:

Generate and propose to DHFS management a set of Parameter Selection l
Review Criteria to be used by PSRB.
- Target Date: September 15, 1983 2.
Perform Acceptability Review of WNP-2 and Rancho Seco.

- Target Date: September 22, 1983 i

Perform detailed review of WNP-2 and Rancho Seco (assuming they are each acceptable on #2).
- Target Dates: WNP-2:
October 7, 1983 Rancho Seco: October 28, 1983 It is our assumption that our' review is limited to the licensees' justification (e.g., analyses) for the parameters selected for SPDS.
Because many packages may arrive this year requiring review, we request that you provide a prioritization list of plants, and, if defined,a schedule for each.

~ #3G 17 1983 With regard to your request to review each submittal for compliance with our " requirements," we wish to emphasize that NRC has no well-defined requirements for parameters to be selected for SPDS.
For this reason, we believe Task #1 to be an important first step in this review process.
