SAFETY EVALUATION REP,0RT WNP-2 TMI ITEM II.K.3.18 In a letter dated July 26, 1983, from G.
Bouchey to the Director, NRR, the Washington Public Power Supply System committed to modifying the Automatic Depressurization System (ADS) at the WNP-2 plant.
The design modification will bypass the high dry-well pressure trip portion of the existing ADS logic and also add a manually operated inhibit switch.
This modification is Option 2 of the BWR Owners Group Report provided in reference 1 and has been approved by the staff as discussed in reference 2.
The applicant's conceptual design is acceptable to us with the following conditions:
(1) Use of the manual inhibit switch must be addressed in the plant emergency procedures; (2) surveillance requirements for the inhibit switch must be included in the plant technical specifications; and (3) the modifications must b e c o m--
plete prior to startup f'o l l o w i n g the first refueling outage.
