SUBJECT:
JUSTIFICATION FOR OPERATION OF WPPSS NUCLEAR PROJECT NO. 2 The Auxiliary Systems Branch has reviewed your letter dated July 29, 1983 and the attached justification for operation of WNp-2. The Washington Public Power Supply System has provided sufficient justification for operation of WNP-2 with the safety-related equipment, as identified in the attachment to your letter, not being qualified for the " harsh" environment.
Mo:;t of the items are the result of components having incomplete documentation in comparison to similar components in safety-related systems elsewhere in the plant. These components will be replaced by the first refueling. The applicant has shown that adequate access to equipment and time is available to take corrective action should the component fail.
Therefore, we find operation of WNP-2 with the identified equipment acceptable.
