SU!P%RY OF I4EETIliG '.lITil llASHINGTO,i PUBLE PO'.lER SUPPLY SYSTEll (IIPPSS) TO DISCUSS Tile OPEN ISSl;ES Ill TliE iiECHA'!ICAL EliGliiEE' LING BRANCH AREA <

A meeting was held in Woodbury, fi.Y. on September 29, 30 and October 1,1931.

with Washington Public Power Supply System to discuss the open issues.

An attendance list and a copy of the sumary of iteas discussed are attached.

A draft SER with a list of open issues was sent to the Supply Systen in July 1981. There were a total of 60 open issues. All issues except 1, 49 and 50 were closed. Item 1 concerns with the deternination of break locations and dynanic effects associated with the postulated pipe rupture.

The Supply Systen indicated that in establishing the basic design for ITIP-2, tne stress criteria was not considered. Additional studies are now underway where-in stress criteria for deteminations of break locations are being applied. The study will be completed towards the end of 19a2. Itea 49 concerns with the leak-tight integrity of some valves used to form an interface between the high pressures RCS and the low pressure systeis. This was deffered to another meeting (October 16, 1931) in Bethesda, ild.

Item 50 concerns with the design criteria for coaponent supports and categorization of the stresses produced by seismic anchor point motion of the l

piping. The HRC position is that these stresses should be considered as priaary.

Expansion stresses in tne support themselves may be categorized as secondary.'

The supply system connitted to assess the design with respect to the NRC posi tion.
