This refers to the inspection conducted by K. R. Naidu of this office on December 2-4, 1986, of your facility at Grand Island, New York and to the discussions of our findires with you and your quality control manager at the conclusion of the inspection.
The purpose of this inspection was to verify the implementation of your established quality assurance program in selected areas. Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the enclosed report.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
During the inspection, it became apparent that you are unaware of recent problems experienced by pressure transmitters of a design similar to yours in operating nuclear power plants relative to setpoint drift.
In order to assist your review to ascertain whether your pressure transmitters may be subject to the same failures, we have enclosed inspection report 99900837/86-01 which discusses the type of problems encountered with another manufacturer's product.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Comission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
