Request for AMENDMENT OF LICENSE SNM-1308 1.
The licensed material in our possession consists of 82.6 grams of U235, contained in uranium metal, as follows:
35 grams of 93.15 percent U235 as uranium metal, 1.13 grams of 93.15 percent U235 as uranium filings, 23.9 grams of 93.15 percent U235 as uranium metal in a scaled discharge lamp, 686 grams of 3.89 percent U235, as uranium metal.
The total amount of material is 746 grams, containing 77.3 grams of U235 above the natural enrichment.
2.
The material is stored in a locked fireproof safe located in Room E139 at Avco Research Laboratory, TEXTRON.
This room is locked during non-working hours, and is under the daily surveillance of the Radiation Safety Officer.
3.
It is requested that the authorized use of the material be for storage only.
4.
It is requested that the portion of the facility that is no longer used for the storage of licensed materials be released for unrestricted use, l.i @ 10 2l Cfl'/ E93 l

Our plans for disposal of the licensed material are:
1)
Transfer as a gift to the Department of Energy; or 2)
Disposal as radioactive waste through US Ecology,.Inc.
Both of these approaches are being actively pursued.
6.
As a result of a corporate merger, the name of the laboratory has been changed from:
Avco-Everett Research Laboratory, Inc. to
-Avco Research Laboratory, TEXTRON.
