Subject:

Byron Station Unit 2 Full power License Issuance NRC Docket No. 50-455

Dear Mr. Denton:

Coramonwealth Edison Company requests your assistance in advancing the date of the meeting with the NRC Commissioners, prior to issuance of the full power license for Byron Unit 2, to Monday, January 26, 1987. The meeting is currently scheduled for Friday, January 30, 1987. We had l

originally projected a nominal 20-day duration of testing between initial criticality and five percent power. The startup test program has proceeded l

faster than we anticipated and without cny delays that had been previously l

factored into the original schedule. We currently expect the plant will be ready to proceed above 5% power on January 23, 1987.

We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Very truly yours,

~
