50 - 315 UNIT NAME D. C. Cook - Unit No. 1 DATE l-9-87

- COMPLETED BY B. A. Svensson TELEPHONE (616) 465-5901 PAGE-1 of 1 MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE r

DECEMBER, 1986

' I&C-1

'After'the operability run of the Unit 1 CD diesel generator the CD diesel generator started on it's own and had to be tripped locally.

The problem was investigated and it was found that relay 19 DGCD, which controls the starting air valve 1, was defective.

The defective relay was replaced and the CD diesel was proven operable.

1 I&C-2 When attempting to synchronize the Unit 1 AB Diesel Generator to the AB bus, the start voltmeter 243 ABEP indicated a maximum

' of 60 volts on all switch positions including the "off" position.

This would not allow synchronizing diesel to the bus due to the 1__

bad indication.

r A broken relay on the voltage regulator board was found to be the cause for the low voltage readings. The broken relay was replaced and 1-AB diesel generator was declared operable.

I&C-3 ASCO solenoid valves for non-essential service water containment isolation valves, WCR-925, WCR-927, WCR-933 and WCR-935 were 4

found to be continuously venting off at the solenoid's exhaust vent.

The internal parts to the ASCO solenoid valves were found not to function properly. The ASCO solenoid valves were rebuilt using ASCO parts kits.

Proper operation of valves WCR-925.

WCR-927, WCR-933 and WCR-935 was verified following the solenoid valve repair.
