The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has coupleted an analysis of the pronpt alert and notification system for the Limerick Generatirn Station g
in Limerick Township, Pennsylvania. This review has been canpleted pursuant to FD4A Rule 44 CPR 350; selected evaluative criteria and Appendix 3 in NUREG-0654/FDiA-REP-1, Revision 1; and FEMA-43 the " Standard Guide for the Evaluation of Alert and tbtification Systems for Nuclear Power Plants" (now published as FDiA-REP-10 ). The enclosed report entitled " Limerick Generating Station Site-Specific Offsite Radioloqical Emergency Preparedness Alert and tbtification Systen Quality Assurance Verification" sunmarizes the engineering design review, incorporates the results of the telephone survey of the public conducted inriedi-ately following activation of the alert and notification systen on Ibcomber 6, 1985, aM confirm the adequacy of the applicable evaluative criteria fran NUREU-0654/ FEMA-PJP-1, Revision 1, and FD1A-43.
Based on the engineering design review and the results of the telephone survey, FD4A has detennined that the alert and notification system installed around the Limerick Generating Station satisfies the requirenunts of NUREG-0654/FD4A-REP-1, 9
Revision 1, ard FD4A-43. Therefore, there is reasonable assurance that the sys-tem is adequate to promptly alert and notify the public in the event of a radio-laqical anergency at the site. A full review of the offsite radiological emer-gency preparedness plans site-specific to the Linerick Generating Station will be conpleted by FD4A in accordance with FDIA Rule 44 CFR 350 at a later date.
