SUMMAR'Y OF OPERATIN'G EXPERIENCE DOCKET NO: 50-344 DATE: March 1987 COMPLETED BY: F. J. Ulmer TELEPHONE: 503-556-3713-

                                                                                              -Ext. 495-
              '0PERATION:
-The plant began this period at-100% and continued at full power operation
               .throughout,the month.

[ During the first week in February extensive troubleshooting of shutdown control rods bank C and D vas performed due to problems encountered during manual operation of the rods. A loose terminal connection was discovered on the logic cabinet _ card that issues c.ommand signals to the movable gripper coils for' shutdown rod banks C'and D. A repair was made and the problem appears to be solved, but maintenance testing will continue on the rod control system. On February 9, 17, and 23, Trojan received the first three'of four new nuclear fuel shipments of twelve assemblies each. The nee region 'M' fuel is of 3.4 W/0 uranium-235. A total of 48 fuel assemblies will be received. LThe primary-to-secondary steam generator tube leakage remained less than one gallon per day and the secondary condensate oxygen remained at about 3 ppb for each train. The reactor coolant system dose equivalent iodine concentration remained at about 12% of the specification limit. MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE: i

                - 1. Returned to operability the Shutdown Bank C and D Control Rods.
2. 'A' Train ESF Outage for planned maintenance and testing was completed.

MISCELLANE0US MAINTENANCE:

1. Completed Annual Planned Maintenance items on the Fuel Building and Turbine Building Cranes.
2. Began _ annual testing and maintenance on plant Heating and Ventilating Systems.
