Pre startup procedures and checklist .

O. Power on Key 0.1 Turn control console " Power On" key to the on position.

1. Startup channels 1.0 Turn on power for startup channels A and B.

1.1 Set each startup channel High Voltage to previously calibrated level 1.2 Check that the amplifier gains and discriminator levels are at pre--

calibrated settings 1.3 Adjust fine voltage +/-50 volts to check High Voltage plateau, and return to original setting. If a significant change in count rate occurs, as compared with previous count rates (see operation book),

(~1 recalibrate for new voltage plateau, record new voltage settings in L' Maintenance Log. Adjust discriminator level setting +/ .5 to check bias plateau and return to original setting. Recalibrate and record new settings if necessary.

1.4 Turn on audio scaler and perform 10 KHZ check on Channel A and 10 KHZ on Channel B.

1.5 Turn on audio amplifier and intercom; check that 10 KHZ signal is audiable in control room and reactor room.

2. Core check .

2.1 Visually inspect the reactor core, support structure, control rods and drive mechanisms, neutron source and drive mechanism, and neutron detectors'. All should be in position, free of obstructions and ready for reactor operation.
