The Com.nission was briefed by the staff on the status of NRC's engineering research program.

The Commission requested that the staff reexamine the relation-ship between water chemistry, and its effect on plant equipment and safe plant operation for both BWRs and PWRs, in order to determine whether the research program should place greater emphasis.on water chemistry in plant operations as a safety issue.
