Loss / Restoration of Power to ICS/NNI Test Results from Davis Besse

Dear hir. Crutchfield:

At the January 7,1986 meeting of the B&W Owners Group Regulatory Response Group with the NRC to review the Rancho Seco event of Deccmber 1985, the B&W Owners Group committed to the performance of tests as appropriate to determine the effects of loss and restoration of power to the Integrated Control System /Non-Nuclear Instrumentation (ICS/NNI). In a subsequent April NRC meeting on the B&W Owners Group Safety and Performance Improvement Program ICS/NNI evaluation task, the B&W Owners Group also agreed to an NRC request to provide a copy of the report for tests performed at Davis Besse.

The B&W Owners Group I&C Committee has now completed its review of the Davis Besse test report, and a copy of the report is attached for your use. It should be emphasized that the results contained I

in this report are considered representative only for the Bailey Controls Company hiodel 820 systems such as that installed at Davis Besse.

I If you have questions on this report, please call me (717-948-8494) or Larry Statler at Toledo Edison (419-249-5000 x 7788).

Sincerely, i

~
