- 1113) Section 3.3.3.6, Action C.

This Action statement requires, in part, that with the number of operable auxiliary building vent stack wide range noble gas monitors less than the minimum number required, the following be performed.

. During the period in which the monitor is inoperable, initiate an alternate method to monitor the appropriate parameters.

. Submit a Special Report to the Commission if the monitor is not returned to operable status within seven (7) days.

On February 15,1987, the Byron Unit 2 wide range noble gas monitor,2PR30J, was taken out of service for modification. This modification is intended to demonstrate the capability to sample for gaseous radiciodine, in conformance with TMI Action Plan Item II.F.1. The completion of this modification is scheduled for mid March at which time the Byron Unit I wide range noble gas monitor, IPR 30J, will be taken out of service for installation of the same modification. Scheduled completion for the Unit 1 modification is the end of March 1987.

During the period of time that these monitors, IPR 30J/2PR30J, are out of service, l alternative monitoring will be accomplished by the particulate iodine dual range gas momtor, IPR 28J/2PR28J.

  • BYRON 87-0251 Page 2 Completion of this modification to the wide range noble gas monitors will eliminate the concern expressed in SER Supplement No. 5 Section 11.5 and satisfy Byron License NPF-37 condition C.8.
