Dear W :
,.,?'
Herewith, I am returning two set's of' U-2 photo's of the Great Valley and Sierra Nevada Foothills. These were inadvertently omitted when the package of Landsat and Aerial photos were returned late last year.
One set of four (#8791-8794), which cover,s mainly the valley from south of Comanche Reservoir to no.rth of Rancho Seco, includes the photos with the parallel linears rel.ating to the China Gulch Fault.
I have put a transparent overlay on 18792, with the two linears indicated. The more northerly linear may coincide with the fault mapped by Bartow et al. The more southerly linear appears to coincide with, or be close to, the China Gulch Fault. These are the linears mentioned in my field trip report that are the subject of a question in the latest round of questions to SMUD from the NRC. The linears are best seen in stereo with #8791, held so that east is at the top for maximum 3-D.
The other set of five photos (#8841-8845) covers the contiguous foothills area.
Thank you for allowing me to use them.
Cordially, u
