This is in regard to your request for approval of a route to he used for transport of spent reactor fuel as contained in your letter of Decenber 19, 1986 as nortified (furing subsequent telephone conversations with nenbers of my staff.

The route from Lambert's Point, florfolk, Virginia to the Departnent of Energy Savannah River Plant. Aiken, South Carolina, includinq the transient ports of Port Flizabeth, flew Jersey and Baltinore, Maryland is judged to neet the regulatory requirenents in accordance with 10 CFR 73.37 for ship-nents of spent fuel under import license ISfM-81017 and is approved through Decenhor 31, 1987 In the event your carrier is required to deviate from the approved route, please call the contact listed on paqe two of this let-ter as soon as possible proviriing the details.

Arrangements with law enforcement agencies along the route as required by 10 CFR 73.37(a)(2) have been completed by the flRC staff. Data relatinq to these arrangenents anti a copy of the approved route are enclosed. This infornation is to be incorporated into your shipment plans and provided gg tn your carrier alonq with instructions regarding its use.
